Someone at BET needs to be FIRED...

...yanno more so than usual...but anyhoo! Today D.L. Hughley was announced as the Host of the 2008 BET awards, set to air Tuesday June 24th. Now it may just be me, but DL hasnt been funny since the 90s, and by that I mean the EARLY 90s. I personally dont get the resurgence in his stock as of late, with 'The Hugleys' being back in syndication on TVone and all (I personally can watch EVE appose to that mess, ANYDAY). Who ever authorized this move should be TERMINATED...can we say Damon Wayans? that year was single handedly the WORST, he was so unfunny I was embarrassed for him...I can only cross my fingers this year wont be TOO tragic, plus i have to look at the bright side...they could have gotten Chris Tucker...*shivers*

Along with the DL announcement, more performers have been added onto the line up for the award show....

"Alicia Keys, Chris Brown, Kanye West and Young Jeezy Will Join Previously Announced Performers Usher, Lil Wayne and Nelly for 'The Hottest Ticket on Television'Legendary R&B Icon Al Green to Receive BET's Lifetime Achievement Award and Celebrated Producer/Arranger/Composer Quincy Jones Set for BET's Humanitarian Award."

Cant wait to see the Kanye performance...as far as the rest, blah!....Youve seen one Alicia Keys performance, you've seen them all...Chris brown, how many times can you see him vogue on stage in something shiny? and I could give two rusty pennys about Young Jeezy.

"Stay Down" Video

I love Mary and I love the song (even tho its probably my least fav from the album)But I must say that I LIKE the video...don't love it, but I don't hate it either (this is the stan talking btw..MARY CAN DO NO WRONG!). The video is nothing to piss the sheets about and I think its far from something worth waiting MONTHS for (after all, the album did drop in DECEMBER and this is only her SECOND video).

Im dying to see what the video for "Work that" looks like, since it was the original second single and even had a video shot for it before the label decided to do dumb shit like shelve that idea, ask fans for their opinion and then completely ignore us (how FAR down was "stay down" on that list of songs voted to be a second single fellow fans?)...For whatever reasons the label decided to roll with "Stay Down" as the second single and slap jacked a video together because of Marys busy concert schedule. They threw her ass infront of a green screen, got some clips from An Inconvenient Truth and told Hype to MAKE IT WORK!...love her to DEATH but imma need Mary to assess her situation

btw...Mary can rock the HELL out of a fur cant she? Heffa will rock an endangered african lion cub shawl with matching mittens and think nothing of it lmao.

E=Me not buyin this shit

For now at least...HEY! I'm a broke college student, I can only afford to buy GOOD things at the moment...with that said, the Mariah review will be up next week (or whenever I'm able to listen to it without wanting to wear a veil, dark sunglasses and cry uncontrollably)

When Producers Stop Giving a Damn..part 2

If you look back at an older post you'll see this isnt the first time ive shared my thoughts on this fellow and his "talent". I said it once, i'll say it again...this man is a waste of a good bank account. Turns out the beat that Usher paid hundred of thousands of dollars for could have been made for FREE on a computer program that im sure cost less than $50. Watch the video as this random fellow shows you what Polow did to bamboozle Ushers dumb ass by basically duplicating the beat in his own bedroom...

This is so good it MUST be fattening...Now in a perfect world this would spell the end of Polows career, but his phone is probably ringing off the hook with offers because of it smh. Im sure he's busy roaming fruity loops for beats to put down for Ciaras first single or some shit

Quack Quack..Im a Chicken..

So a few folks have asked for my opinion on the MiMi performances on last nights SNL so I figured id post about it. I initially wasn't going to, because well...why? she didn't care enough to give a good performance, why should I care enough to comment on it? But anyhoo, Nova pretty much said everything I was thinking about the entire situation perfectly, so go check it cuzz Mimi shant victimize me!

But doesn't the "Migrate" song remind you of Camrons "Im a Chicken Head" skit from his Purple haze album? Listen to the negrodian display and tell me thoughts of MIMI doesn't run through ur head!!! the way Mariah's been lately i wouldn't be surprised if a skit like this makes E=Mc2...not a good look mimi..not a good look at all...CHICKEN HEADS, UNITE! BAKAWWWWK!

Ummm...WTF?

Just when i was about to come out the Danity Kane closet, they go and pull some shit like THIS...the video for their lead single "Damage" from the upcoming album Welcome To The Dollhouse. Love love love the song and all the tracks ive heard so far from the effort, but this video here... I dunno what to say, i mean the video looks like a tacky commercial for a new slutty bratz doll or something. Its bad enough that the video is debuting a WEEK before the album drops, and it turns out to be this bedazzled, silver metallic mess...i just shant be victimized by Diddy and his "if it aint me, i dont give a shit" business mindset

So u can take '4 Minutes to Save the World', but not a song?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
After listening to the HQ radio rip of the new Madonna Song "4 Minutes to Save the World" featuring Justin Timberlake and produced by Timbaland, I realized this song is kinda hot...if it were someone ELSE singing the female vocals besides Madonna, for any OTHER album besides Hard Candy. Im not saying that Madonna brings down the track AT ALL, it just doesn't seem like a Madonna track period. Im sure its the quality of the radio rip that makes Madonna's vocals seem almost non existent next to the loud looping horns and Justin Timberlake.

The main problem I have with the song is that it sounds like something that should have been on Timbaland's Shock Value album, not a new Madonna record...especially after releasing an album like Confessions on the Dancefloor that had such a STRONG first single... For those that have heard the song already, honestly tell me u cant picture Nelly Furtado on the track instead of Madonna and have it feel more believable? With that said I feel the track is TOO Timbaland and not enough Madge.

Im honestly not surprised because I think Timbo has been wearing himself thin for YEARS...hes not at a creative peek as he once was when an Aaliyah song sounded NOTHING like a Missy Elliot song. Now you cant tell a Justin song from a 50 cent song from a Nelly Furtado song, and now apparently from a Madonna song. I fear the new project will be overproduced and nothing more than a forced attempt to top the Hot 100 Charts. Seeing that Flo-rida's hideous single "Low" has dominated that chart for the past 10 weeks, that would be my indication as an "artist" to stay as far away from that goal as possible.

Famous Stars and Tramps

Nowwwwwwww...i dunno about you guys, but nothing about this picture screams "BUY MY PRODUCT!!!"..Can someone send this memo to Travis Barker, owner of Famous Stars and Straps, and let him know this? Danity Kane member Aubrey O'Day is the model for the clothing company and these are the pictures of her modeling various pieces. My brother is ADDICTED to this shit, and I dig some of the hoodies and tshirts myself, but looking at this campaign it doesnt make me wanna rush to the nearest store and pick up anything, it makes me wanna volunteer at a battered womans shelter or somethin...I mean really, homegirl looks ALL FUCKED UP.

Dear Mariah...

Mariah Mariah Mariah...so your apparently naming your album "That Chick"...*sigh*...and the real sad thing aside from that is you most likely think its acceptable of a WOMAN your AGE to refer to herself as...that chick... now you've proven after endless, at times unnecessary and forced, rap callabos after rap callabos that your "down"...yes, you much rather goto a Wutang album release party than a ritzy cocktail party with top socialites of the world... WE GET IT...But this move here, it just doesnt seem to make sense, or really make me interested in what statement your gonna be making on this upcoming album. Maybe your trying to make yourself more relateable and attainable to your fans by letting them know that your just "that chick"???? Yeaaaaaaaa...about that...Bitch, you sleep in a rain forest and you got a HELLO KITTY room ...A ROOM dedicated to that shit!...not a corner..not a wall..but a ROOM...Mariah, u are FAR from "That Chick" and thats what has added to the appeal, at times. Coming off of probably the best album of your career, The Emancipation Of MiMI, putting out anything less than that level of content would be very sad, but coming back with an album exactly like that..would be flat out disappointing...I kno i kno...if it aint broke dont fix it...but if that bitch is comin up on its last leg..DONT JUST WAIT FOR IT TO BREAK!...Emancipation was NOTHING new for you..it was just Butterfly 2.0...Bigger, Stronger, Faster!!! and after coming behind 2 MAJOR DUDS and 1 VERY forgettable album(honestly, when was the last time anyone was stuntin RAINBOW?), the album was received much better than it would have been if it had came straight after Butterfly, I think. On that note, I do believe a Mimi 2.0 will fair very well, but a something NEW showing GROWTH and actual MATURITY will fair even greater!, because lets face it...catering to the 106 crowd is not the best choice for ANYONE, let alone a legend like urself! (take that as a hint to ANYONE reaching out to Tpain right now)....but Mimi, I am a fan and will continue to be one, I just hope you stop going to your stuffed animals and cabana boys for career advice...that is all.

Love, always (as long as u never come out with another Charmbracelet)

Should Mary really 'Hurt Again'?

As great as an album can be, the most important part, aside from having material that's actually good, is choosing what material should become singles, and what material would just be AMAZING album cuts. Marys camp has officially chosen the second single from the BRILLIANT Growing Pains album and to my surprise they've decided to roll with "Hurt Again" after making us fans think our opinion mattered by making us do a poll to pick for ourselves *Hiss*, "Grown Woman" won that one. While i don't particularly agree with neither one of those tracks being a SECOND single I absolutely LOVE them both, Now my 2cents? I think Mary should have rolled with "Roses" as a second single for this time of the year, the cooler months give people time to assess relationships and get ANGRY! until they move on in time enough to show some skin, have some fun and not give a damn in the summer months...enter "Grown Woman" as the 3rd single! can u picture club hearing that on the way to the or while ur at a stuffy house party just waiting for that one song that makes u wanna get up and get loose? (and wouldn't she look just sassy preforming that at the BET awards?).. To round things out for the fourth and potentially last single "What Love Is" would do just fine, the song has crossover hit written ALL OVER it that's relateable and can be expected to make those that found puppy love during the summer feel justified in the decision to make their summer fling their steady *rolls eyes*(and doesnt it have Grammy performince song written all over it? all she need is a backing choir and its typical grammy, oooh maybe she'll even cry when the camera goes to kendu!).

Hopefully the Mary camp will get some sense and start doing things that oh...i dunno..makes sense? Lord knows the single selection for The Breakthrough was baffling (Why "Cant Hide From Love" wasnt a second single and "Ive Found My Everything" wasnt a single PERIOD still makes me scratch my head from time to time). "Hurt Again" as great as it is, i dont think its the best choice especially coming after a single like "Just Fine", that didnt grab as many ears as it should have. Having a strong debut on the charts is what everyone wants, but having longevity on the charts is what everyone needs, lets hope in the end Mary will be able to say shes experienced both with this album.

No Desperate Housewives for This?

Last night, the 63563567356735th American Music Awards (or as I affectionately refer to them as, the poor man's Grammys) aired last night and went on for an excruciating 4 hours. If it was so bad, why did i watch u ask? What the hell else was i going to do? and plus any award show with Mary on stage in 5 inch hell boots dancin her lil heart out is an award show im tuning into thats why!

The show started out with everyones favorite musical mistake, Fergie..she opened the show and performed damn near every song from her album The Dutches. She was onstage with Wil.I.Am (now is it just me or does he LOOK like he smells like a public restroom at your local park?), and he soon went into his own song that no one knows. They both shared the same set with Nicole Scheroiznsoanfxinger of the Pussycat Dolls, where she performed some shit nobody knows, nor cares about her song "Baby Love", now I KNO yall heard her crack at the end right? Helen Keller would have even went DAMN GIRL!

As the show started, host Jimmy Kimmel did something thats been rare with host when it comes to music award shows in the past few years, be funny. He grabbed Jordin sparks and Kelly Pickler from the crowds and they all began crankin dat soulja boy, and ofcourse Soulja Boy came out himself to juice some more time on his 15 minutes of fame..so where does that leave him? at about 14:56 minutes..4 seconds of fame left soulja! go adopt someone and put it to good use or something...Now onto the actual awards!...Ive never cared for the fact that the American Music Awards only have 3 nominees in each category! as if they needed any more reason to exclude GOOD artist from being nominated, that way they can say "theres just simply not enough room to nominate them!!! OOPSIES!..sorry bout dat Jill!" *rolls eyes* ...Justin Timberlake walked away with quite a few, the American Idol kids won a bunch (except for Fantasia ofcourse, but atleast she wasnt takin out back and put to sleep like Ruben Studdard), Rihanna won Best R&b Soul because yanno..she OOZES old motown...even she was like WTF? smh.... Not to be outdone Beyonce made them give her an award and ANY award would do, yall KNOW that big artist find out if their getting awards or not ahead of time, if they get nada some dont show OR the they get LIED TO just so they will (Kanye West anyone?).... hence her getting international artist of the year or some shit (lets keep it real, they could have gave her best long weave in a short form video and homegirl woulda been up there misty eyed..or maybe it was just Miss Ushers new cologne?)

As the show went on I nodded here and there from lackluster performances from the likes of Chris Brown, Maroon 5 and others and from the B- list of presenters that came and went through out the night... One of the FEW saving graces of the night came from Miss Alicia Keys, although her performance bumped up the UGLY factor for the evening, the performace was full of life and very active, even tho Alicia has about as much business dancin as Condaleeza Rice has attending a Wutang concert, i enjoyed it none the less... BUT! u ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL KNOW..what took the cake for me? right?

WHERE WERE YA!?!?! WHERE WERE YA!?! WHERE WERE YA!?!?!

yes...the Queen herself, Miss Mary J Blige! mother went on stage in her catsuit and her "come get it if u dare" boots and did the damn thing!..no back up dancers! no choreography! no voice lessons no bells and whistles! JUST MARY and her shades reppin, i thoroughly enjoyed it!...The way she was lookin i didnt kno if she was about to perform or cause havoc in Gotham City for Batman, GET IT SELENA KYLE! MEOWWWW!!!.... now was it just me or did Mary give off an old school Whats the 411 vibes?? I was expecting KC to come out OOOOOH YEAAAAA!'n any minute, LOVED IT!
Another performance that stuck out in my mind was Lenny Kravitz...its really good seeing him do his thing again, minus his Players Ball perm..and wasnt the song just precious? a string section? i swoon! now everything else from the show was pretty much a blur or i tuned it out due to its overall wackness...so enough with me..ON TO THE PICTURES!

Chris Brown performing "Kiss Kiss"...as if i needed anymore reasons to call him Remedial Roy..smh

Beyonce Performed "irreplaceable" with Sugarhill...as if i needed anymore reasons to hate this song...smh

awwwwww look at these 2 in action, if u didnt kno any better u would swear up and down that they actually sounded good

The beautiful and ALWAYS bubbly Natasha Bedingfield presented an award with the Hamburgler, who appears to be wearing his little cousins shades..seriously, i think theyre cutting off circulation to his brain..

Usher presents Beyonce with her award for the night..they both tried to sound out the engraving that was on it, and if u watched the show u kno they failed miserably... If u look closely u can see a bead of sweat on Beyonces forehead

I ADORE how much Kirk is smiling with his eyes, Tyra would be proud...Lyfe, much like myself, is wondering what the hell he's doing there and Solange.....*sigh* Solange throws a smile at Satan her dad for calling in one of his favors to the big wigs so they would let her useless ass present something she'll never recieve

And heres Fergie pretty much summing up my overall feel of the show..and well for her...

My sentiments exactly girl...

Beyonce wants to continue to snap fo da kids

According to DigitalSpy in the UK, Beyonce is rumored to be changing the direction of her upcoming album, too bad she hasnt changed the date to Spring 2011 (i figure by then i'll be able to stomach seeing her ALL OVER the TV ...maybe). The new album was once said it would be heavily produced by Timbaland, but i guess Beyonce womp womped that idea for something more "International sound" compared to her R&B influenced last 2 albums...Heres whats to be expected...

"It will rival anything the likes of Britney and Rihanna have done recently. Beyoncé and her team can see where mistakes were made on the last album."It was very American, very R'n'B and stripped back. They want to go for a more international sound this time."

Now heres my 2 cents on what went down...Beyonce took a listen to Britney's new album over the past week and had a conversation with management, dont quote me on this but im pretty sure it went alil something like this...

Beyonce: "This album is CRAZY, is it mine?..."
Management: "uhhh, huh?"
Beyonce: "What? this album is hot, which means it has to be mine right? i mean, we ALL kno it aint Kelly's"
Management: "Beyonce...thats Britney Spears New cd, not yours"
Beyonce: "..."

Now again, i could be wrong..but i think the remainder of the conversation went alil somethin
like THIS...

Personally i feel this is a SMART move on Beyonces behalf...her first album was FORGETTABLE to say the least and had very few highlights aside from "Crazy In Love" (now be honest, whens the last time u were bumpin Dangerously in love? see) and B'day showed she cant luck up on another Crazy In Love. Beyonce has a better chance of being a Gay Icon than ever being a Mariah Carey or a Mary J Blige, in the long run (I kno i ride Marys bra straps and im a big Mariah fan, BUT they are arguably legends in the game and after 15 years PLUS they continue to BREAK RECORDS). Sure Beyonces hot as fish grease NOW and u may not be able to see her being irrelevant in the near future, but look at Brandy...in the never say never days did u honestly believe in a matter of years Brandy would have to Off someone on the 101 to get a headline in the news? Think back only 4 years ago, Beyonce was MUCH MUCH hotter then..the candle is dwindling FAST and she needs to make moves that will solidify her future in this music game, and i believe this is a good move to do that...

Sister Candy

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

In this outfit, Doesn't Alicia kinda look like that one whorish member of the church that always manages to show some type of cleavage/ass every Sunday regardless of what she wears? and her ass always sittin in the front row winkin at the pastor, with a name like "Candy" or "Peaches"...forshame

That was some depressing ass shit

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Now...im no genius...and im FAR from an Alexyss K. Tyler...but ehhh, isnt Girlfriends a comedy? and for a show to be considered a comedy, it has to be...funny? it could have been just me, but wasnt Monday night's season premiere about as funny as a dog fight? I knew after Jill Marie Jones (Toni Childs) jumped ship that the show was goin to hell in a handbasket (say what you want, but Toni childs MADE that show, and provided some of the more memorable moments...case in point...lmao ERRRR! NOT AHHH! AHHH!! AHHH!! and were not EVEN gonna get into her ongoing thing about forgetting Jabari's name...GENIUS!)...But i figured after Jones left, the show would find some way to compensate for one of their major comedic roles being out of the picture by providing funnier situations for remaining girls could get into...Now i watched last season (on and off) to see what direction the girls were going in and to see how they adapted and grew..but Jumping the Shark damn near EVERY other episode was something i wasnt expecting....Like Joan finding Love, somewhat falling OUT, only to run into an old flame "Brock" who now coincidentally wants kids?(he didnt, which is the reason for their breaking up) please!!!!!...Or how about Maya becoming PREGNANT after her husband comes home from chasing his nascar dreams (that DIDNT work out)..Or Lynn finally finding herself as a musician (or whatever that shit is) and then working with BIGBOI...BUT losing love YET again...to a PREACHER at that!!!!( is it just me or is the show turning into Good Times without all the sassy James Evans one liners?..I mean, does something bad have to happen EVERY episode?)

ALL in all i think even if Jill Marie decides that baileys aint payin the big bucks anymore and comes back to the show, it just wont have that feeling it once did...all shows go through it...Martin (no tisha campbell? one monkey did kinda stop that show) and Living Single (who the fuck was trip and whos idea was it to make Sinclair and Overton smart?) comes to mind...but hopefully this season will have a few memorable moments as i feel this show is coming to an end soon...and if u cant go out with a bang...atleast go out with a pow

But this is just MY 2 cents...what did u guys think of it? or did u even watch?
